Bottle Opener

Bottle Opener

Sale Price:$8.00 Original Price:$12.00

The original bent-nail bottle opener— designed by Brendan Ravenhill— is one of those items that made us want to start Cruise, because we wanted to share the things we’ve grown to know and love with more people! We had one for years and loved its simplicity and the string of curiosity and compliments that followed as we passed it around parties at our home. A single, standard run of the mill nail is bent and embedded into a wooden handle with a fantastic handfeel, allowing it to function as a lever to pry open your beverage. Magnets are inlaid on both sides to snag that bottle cap before it falls to the floor, while the other holds the opener on your fridge, toolbox, truckbed or motorcycle when not in use.

Dimensions: 4.5 x 1.5 x .75 inches

About the Designer

As a child growing up in Cote d’Ivoire and spending summers in coastal Maine, Brendan Ravenhill fell in love with the functional beauty of working tools and wooden boats. His father curated a show called "The Art of the Personal Object" at the Smithsonian when he was a kid and thinking about how and why we use objects has always been a part of how Brendan seeks to understand the world. Brendan first studied sculpture, then wooden boat building, then industrial design--and  moved to Los Angeles in 2010. There he discovered the incredible network of fabricators still thriving here, and knew where he wanted to set up shop.
